The Brief

Winter Wonderland required a rebuild for their website with a bigger focus on a better user and admin experience. The new site not only showcases all the activities and food options available during the festival but also provides an inspiring experience. I led on the entire UX/UI project.

I initially undertook a UX workshop with the primary stakeholders at IMG. Understanding the core user journeys, a SWOC analysis, user flows and then wireframes. It was crucial to get client sign-off every step of the way as this was the largest website I ever understook and to ensure the design phase went smoothly we felt the full UX process was necessary. The design phase was exciting, using such a powerful and well-known brand was a joy and I really got to inject the fun into the site.

I designed a fully interactive map containing everything in Hyde Park from rides, food and facilities. All fully controlled and linked up to the CMS. All rides, activities and food & drink areas at Winter Wonderland have their own custom landing pages, allowing for smooth filtering to ensure the entire family can easily find relevant experiences easily.

The breadth of activities, food and rides at Winter Wonderland is overwhelming, the user needed a convenient way to find out what was on offer. For the client, it was important that each listing was created once and shared across the site at every touch point so I aided with the admin area designs alongisde the development team and client to ensure it not only looked good, but worked for them.

Takeaways

The activity planner was overhauled creating more logical outcomes for the user, who can then save to favourites and share with their friends and family. This was the epicenre of the site and the main takeway was to to build everything with this in mind.

The gut instinct on this project was to go wild with the Christmas magic, and while we got to do that, It was crucial that I designed every feature on site with the activity planner in mind, and ultimately, ensuring we got the users converting that into ticket purchases. An absolute beast of a project, loved seeing this come to life and would like to shout-out my developer Jon Mills as well as Anthony and Freya from IMG UK.
